The Lubbock Saddle Club was founded in 1961 by J.H. Aufill. Originally, the club was known as the Aufill Rough Riders and was restricted to children. When adults were allowed to ride in club events, the members of the club changed the name to the Lubbock Saddle Club. Now, the Club has grown to have riders of all ages and all levels of experience!

Our motto is to encourage, support and promote an interest in horses, horsemanship, sportsmanship and citizenship.

The Lubbock Saddle Club has many horse riding opportunities open to anyone whether they are a member of our club or not; although, in order for points to count towards the year-end awards, the rider must be a current paid member of the club. The Club holds several events throughout the year including but not limited to:

*Regular Play Day Series – held the first Saturday
of each month April – August

*Friday Night Youth Series – held eight consecutive
Friday nights, beginning in June

*District II Play Days – dates & times posted on
the
Schedule of Events page

*Participation in the Grand Entries at area rodeos
including ABC Rodeo, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch Rodeo,

and O'Donnell Rodeo

*Participation in area parades including
The Annual Parade of Horses

(part of the Cowboy Symposium)

*Benefit play days for charities,

Such as American Diabetes Association

and American Heart Association

*Trail Riding, as opportunities arise
